nourishment for the soul

SIMPLE YET PROFOUND

Having spent many years focussing on healthy eating, Sandra has completed courses at the Chopra Center in the USA, with particular focus on Ayurvedic medicine.  She has complemented these courses by obtaining a CPD  Certificate in Ayurvedic Nutrition and cookery with the Ayurveda Pura Academy which is accredited by the Complementary Medical Association.

One guiding principle of Ayurveda is that mind and body are connected, and of special interest to Sandra is encouraging patients to respect their particular body type.  Using these principles patients are encouraged to incorporate a simple healthy lifestyle into their daily routine.

Within a programme of ‘Nourishment for the Soul’ Sandra refers individuals to basic nurturing principles: preparing a meal of many different colours and flavours. Talking through these simple concepts allows people to feel involved, and subsequently participate with an interest in their daily nutritional food intake, if they so wish.  They consequently look on food more to be enjoyed than to be just eaten, which develops a ‘mindfulness’ during eating, (a principle also discussed in Sandra’s teaching of Meditation Techniques).

These basic principles are so simple, yet so profound. Giving a patient the opportunity to become aware of lifestyle changes is treading the pathway to fully nourishing the soul.
