What is Reiki?

The word Reiki means ‘universal life energy’ (Rei = spirit or soul; Ki = energy).  Reiki is an ancient Japanese holistic therapy requiring no specific belief system, but simply a real desire to bring the body back into balance.

Man’s natural state is one of health, but only a minority seem to enjoy a life of physical and mental well-being. Many people are choosing to compliment orthodox medicine with natural remedies and therapies, such as Reiki ~ a safe, simple and non-invasive treatment restoring harmony to body and mind.

During a Reiki treatment this universal energy is channelled via the practitioner to the recipient, who then draws the energy to where the need is most. This turns the individual’s awareness towards health, healing the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.

Reiki can help the recipient to address the root cause of an illness or dis-ease and can be the first step towards understanding. The balance of energy a person receives during a treatment can not only assist with a cure, but may subtly highlight areas where a person needs to modify their lifestyle.

Reiki can also be used as a calming effect ~ possibly when there has been trauma i.e. post-operatively or recovery after an illness.
